Getting to Cancun International Airport

Cancún International Airport is located in Quintana Roo, on the Caribbean coast of Mexico's Yucatán Peninsula. It is Latin America's fourth and Mexico's second busiest airport, after Mexico City International Airport. In 2019, Cancún airport handled 25,481,989 passengers.

Cancun Airport Taxi

Two types of Taxis are found at Cancun airport, Local Taxi, and Authorized. The local Taxi cabs are found outside the exit gates of all Terminals 2 and 3 (24-hr) but for the authorized ones, you should pre-book one through the official website of the airport or the providing company itself and they would send you a confirmation number with the pickup instructions by email and the driver would wait for you with your name on a personalized board. Local taxis are not recommended because they don’t offer fixed prices and their rates are more expensive than the prearranged ones(about 60% higher than online rates). The rate of the ride using a local taxi is $45 to Cancun Downtown, but it costs about $25 using an authorized one.

Through the official website of the airport, you can know the typical price range to your destination, also they provide safe, licensed, bilingual transportation services with an authorized transportation company. All licensed Cancun Airport Taxis have a badge displayed in their vehicle's windshields, and all the drivers are required to carry and display their Cancun Airport ID badge and wear a uniform, so ignore offers of transportation from people outside the arrival terminals.

Car Rental

Car rental is available at the airport for those who wish to drive themselves, you can book through one of these agencies, Alamo, Avis, Budget, Europcar, and Hertz all operating from the airport, open 24 Hours / 365 Days

Private PreBooked Rides with a Professional Driver

Another option is to pre-book your ride through Mozio to have everything ready next to your hotel booking and flight tickets for a hassle-free trip. This super organized way of commute allows you to hire cars, Limousines (luxury sedans, SUVs, and large vans that can fit up to 12 passengers) with a price that will fit your budget. When making a booking it's important to add your flight details, the driver will monitor your flight using the flight number in case of a delay. The driver will wait for you at the arrivals hall with a sign with your name on it for an hour after your plane's landing.

Cancun International Airport Transfers are hands down the best option available.

Public Transportation

Cancun Airport Bus (Operated by ADO company), provides bus services to five different destinations (five lines) on a periodic time (every 30 or 45 min.), once you passed thru the baggage carrousel and Customs you will find the "ADO" stand, their booths found at all the terminals where you can buy tickets to your destination.

Buses stop only at their stations located in Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Puerto Morelos, Tulum, and Merida, since there are no stops during the journey, so from the bus stations, you must take another ride on a public bus or a taxi to get to your final destination.

For each bus line, the price of the ticket and the operation times are different as follows:

The bus to Cancun Downtown is for $4.78 and operates from 08:15 to 23:45, to Puerto Morelos is for $6.77 and operates from 08:15 to 23:45, to Playa del Carmen Turistica is for $11.55 and operates from 08:15 to 23:45, to Tulum Downtown is for $14.55 and operates from 10:55 to 21:45, to Merida Downtown is for $42.88 and operates from 14:05 to 21:15.

Also, you can prebook your ticket online to avoid the line at the airport and save your time through the official website of the airport or the website of ADO.

The Comfort Option, a Prebooked Professional Driver

The most comfortable way to leave the airport will be through prepaid private Cancun International Airport Transfer. It's the easiest and the safest way to travel in general. You won't need to wait in line for a taxi or a bus. The driver will be waiting for an hour after your plane's landing at the arrivals hall with a sign with your name on it.

Mozio provides a variety of rides with different car capacity and a wide range of prices to suit all travellers. Whether you are travelling alone, as a couple, or a group, you will find the most suitable ride for you (Private cars, SUVs & minivan)

The Speedy Option, Prebooked Taxis

The best way to save your time transferring from CUN is to use one of the private ride's solutions like a taxi or a prebooked Cancun International Airport Transfer in order to avoid wasting time waiting for the bus and save the time consumed in the stops of it's route, knowing that there is no available solution that can avoid the traffic jam like train or subway, but you can at least avoid the crowd of the public transportation and save the time of the route itself, you can save about 20 minutes if you pick a private car instead of the bus but it would be costly of course.

The Frugal Option, Local Buses

If you have time on your hands and would prefer not to spend much on your Cancun Airport Transfers, you can opt for Bus.

While it is the cheapest way to reach your hotel from Cancun Airport, it is also the least convenient.

If you opt for the bus, you will take a long time to reach your hotel

These buses, take you to the bus terminals at major cities such as Cancun, Tulum, or Playa del Carmen.

From there, you must take another bus or taxi to reach your hotel.

This just delays your vacation. We recommend buses only when you are on a budget vacation in Cancun.

The cheapest way to leave the Cancun Airport, although it has its inconveniences speaking about comfort, also this is quite a long process because if you're travelling to the Hotel Zone of Cancun, Playa del Carmen or Tulum, once you reach the bus terminal then you need to take a taxi to reach his final destination.
