Getting to London Heathrow Airport

There are several options when it comes to transport from Heathrow Airport.

By Train

Heathrow's central station links the airport with almost all of London's train stations. Heathrow Express is the most used line and tickets start at $32 (£24) per passenger for a one-way journey to central London. Tickets can be purchased directly from Mozio.

Another option is to take the London Underground line, but unlike the Heathrow Express, it stops at every station along the way making the journey longer. Tickets start at $8 (£6) per ticket for a one-way journey to central London and can be purchased at ticket machines located at the station.

Both lines are available from 5 am until 11pm.

By Taxi

Taxis can be hailed at the designated taxi ranks outside the terminals. A trip to central London can cost somewhere between $60 to $123 (£45 to £92) depending on the exact location. Taxis are available the 24 hours of the day the 7 days of the week.

Approximate taxi prices to popular areas of London:

  • LHR to Kensington, £78 ($104)
  • LHR to Westminster, £88 ($117)
  • LHR to Pimlico, £91 ($121)
  • LHR to Mayfair, £83 ($111)
  • LHR to Klerkenwell, £94 ($125)
  • LHR to Lime Street, £98 ($131)

By Public Bus

There is a bus station at Heathrow Airport where public transport buses are available.

Local buses are run by Transport for London, the local government's transport authority. From Heathrow's central station, buses depart to different stations all day long. Cash payment is not accepted in public buses, so you will need to acquire and Oyster card beforehand.

Oyster cards are available at the station's office and can be topped up to be used with all of Transport for London's services during your trip (trains, buses, metro).

A single one-way adult fare costs £1.50 ($2) to central London.

By Express Bus

Private companies offer services from LHR. The best-known ones are:

  • National Express is a great option that allows direct travel from the airport's bus station to different stations in London. A one-way ticket to central London starts at £11 ($15) and can be purchased through Mozio. Buses depart from 6am until 10pm.

  • Megabus is another provider between the airport and stations in London. A one-way ticket to central London starts at £12 ($16) and can be purchased through Mozio. Buses depart from 9am until 5pm.

By Private Transfer

For a seamless and comfortable journey, a private transfer is the best option. A driver meets you at arrivals with a sign with your name and takes you to your private ride.

Mozio has several options, tailored to different needs. For example, for rides to central London, our local partner MyTransfers offers a Sedan for 3 passengers and 3 large bags for £44 ($59).

An SUV for 5 passengers and 3 large bags is a better option for larger parties or for added comfort. Smartzi's SUV option starts at £62 ($83).

At the same time, they also offer a private van for 6 passengers and 6 large bags for £76 ($102).

For large groups, our partner Kiwitaxi offers a private bus for 16 passengers and 16 bags at £213 ($285).

All of the above options include Meet and Greet service plus the driver monitors your flight in case it's delayed and adjusts the pick up accordingly. The above services can be booked through Mozio (https://www.mozio.com/en-us/).

Rideshare Apps

These companies offer ridesharing services from Heathrow airport which can be accessed through their respective apps. They operate 24/7.

  • Uber: An Uber Exec sedan for 4 passengers and 2 large bags starts at £59 ($79) to central London.
  • Ola: A sedan for 4 passengers with 2 large bags starts at £55 ($74) to central London.
  • Free Now: A sedan for 4 passengers and 2 large bags starts at £44 ($59) to central London.
  • Bolt: Rides start with a £2.50 base fee, plus £1.25 per mile and £0.15 per minute.
  • Wheely: A Mercedes E-class sedan, costs £6 + £0.50/min + £1.60/mile with a minimum of £12 while a Mercedes V-class van costs £8 + £0.75/min + £2.40/mi with a minimum £16

The Comfort Option, a Prebooked Professional Driver

The most comfortable option when it comes to transport out of the airport are private transfers. With a private transfer, you have privacy, ease of access and speed of service.

Mozio, through its local partners, offers several options.

They can be booked through Mozio.

The Speedy Option, the Railway Network

The fastest way to leave the airport is by train. Once you reach the station, trains leave for all areas of London almost every 5 minutes. You can be in central London in less than an hour this way.

Heathrow Express tickets start at £24 ($32) for a one-way journey to central London.

The London Underground line offers one-way tickets at £6 ($8) to central London.

Trains will not be your best choice if you have large amounts of luggage or if you want a door to door service because you will be dropped off at the train station and will need to walk or take a taxi from there to your final destination.

The Frugal Option, Express Buses

The cheapest transport out of the airport are express buses which can be found at the airport bus station.

  • National Express offers one way tickets to central London for £11 ($15) and can be purchased through Mozio. Buses depart from 6am to 10pm.

  • Megabus offers one-way tickets to central London for £12 ($16) and can be purchased through Mozio. Buses depart from around 9am to 5pm.

Some of the most popular destinations serviced:

  • Cambridge from £29 ($39).
  • Oxford from £24 ($32).
  • Luton from £20 ($32)
  • Stansted from £21 ($32).

The downside is that this service is not door to door so passengers will need to either walk or take another transport to their final destination.
